Institute Schedule

  • You can download a PDF of the Institute schedule. We will post it around the hotel and school. Please note that changes to times and locations might be necessary—we will do our best to give you as much notice as possible.

  • We’re looking for a participant to lead some mindfulness, meditation, stretching, or slow-flow yoga in the mornings! If you have experience with any of these practices and would like to lead a session or two, please email Mary Barber. If you would like to participate in these morning sessions, be sure to bring your yoga mat and comfortable clothes.

Chapperone App

The Chapperone Pro App is one of ISEEN’s partners and has generously gifted us the use of their app for the duration of our Institute.  We will use the app primarily for communication (i.e., schedule updates, change of meeting location), so it is important that you download the PRO version of the app. Please make sure to use the email address you used to register for Summer Institute when joining the app on your phone. You should be automatically enrolled in our “trip."

Unrulr App

As part of our programming, facilitators have the option to engage with the platform Unrulr throughout your cohort experience. This website or app can be utilized in the classroom as a way to support students in developing portfolios, completing formative assessments, and to reflect frequently. Although your engagement with the program will vary, we ask that all participants get set up in Unrulr. Please use these instructions to add yourself to Unrulr and then please respond to Jeff and Courtney’s welcome post before you arrive in Colorado!

Pre-Reading/Watching

Travel Information

  • The Institute will officially begin at 4:00 PM on June 23, 2026. Please plan to take one of the shuttles from the Courtyard by Marriott Boulder (4710 Pearl E Cir., Boulder, Colorado 80301) at 1:45 PM or 3:00 PM to arrive at The Dawson School’s Innovation Center for check-in between 2:00-3:45 PM. We’ll have refreshments set up and want you to have adequate time to get settled before we start at 4:00 PM on the Quad. If you need to drive to campus, plug in Dawson’s address (10455 Dawson Drive, Lafayette, Boulder County, Colorado 80026) into your GPS, and park in Lots 4 or 5.

  • Travel Connections Sheet: Should you be interested in trying to connect with other attendees to share a rental car/gas to, or from the airport, or even just coordinate riding up/back on the shuttle together, please add your information to the shared spreadsheet. It will be up to you to make connections based on this spreadsheet, so please check back on it and reach out to others traveling at similar times.

  • The majority of you are likely flying into Denver’s International Airport. It is a 45-minute drive from Denver International Airport to Boulder (depending on traffic).

Institute Resources

Relevant documents can be found / will be saved in the ISEEN Attendee Resources Google Drive. For now, you can explore the *General Resources folder. Your cohort will add to this shared drive throughout the institute. Please note, in the interest of paper reduction, we will not have hard copies of any Institute documents, unless specifically requested in advance. We are assuming that you will access all documents electronically, or print copies from home, if needed.

Institute Attire and Weather

Institute attire is summertime casual. Average high temperatures in Lafayette/Boulder in mid to late June are typically around 83ºF/28ºC during the day and 50ºF/10ºC during the evenings. There could be the chance of showers or afternoon storms, so please bring a rain jacket (just in case), along with layers. You can find the current forecast here. Because of the climate and altitude in the area, it is important to remember to hydrate and wear sunscreen.

We ask that all attendees bring comfortable walking shoes with tread for rocky, uneven terrain. Runners and yogis will want to bring appropriate clothing for these activities as there will be optional group runs and yoga sessions.

Some packing suggestions beyond the essentials:

  • Running/yoga/hiking clothes and shoes

  • Swimsuit (if you intend to take advantage of the hotel pool)

  • Rain jacket, just in case

  • Water bottle

  • Sunscreen

  • Sun hat

  • Body lotion for the very dry environment and consequential dry skin

  • Saline nasal spray, if you’re prone to bloody noses in dry environments

Other Preparations

  • Please bring a laptop or tablet, a pen, and paper/notebook to all sessions for note-taking / journaling.

  • Come prepared for a “show & tell” session, which we call the “Ex Ed SLaM”:  a short, high energy tutorial or demo of a pedagogy or practice. The word SLaM stands for: Sharing Learning and Mentoring. The purpose of this session is to share a resource, an activity or a tool (e.g., how you use the UN SDGs with your class, a favorite check-out of reflection activity, etc.) with the group. It will not be a formal presentation (very casual, less than two minutes per person), but please start thinking about what you might want to share.

  • ISEEN has a commitment to being as environmentally sustainable as possible. Please bring a reusable water bottle and coffee mug with you. We will provide you with water fountains and coffee to fill them up!

  • Follow us on social media and share your Summer Institute experiences! You can follow us on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Join our Facebook group to connect and share resources with your experiential ed colleagues.
