ISEEN Community Support in the time of COVID-19 #4

Dear Friends,

Here we are again, sending you ISEEN love and support. We keep asking ourselves, what now? Dave Mochel (keynote at the Winter Institute in 2018) addresses this question in his recent article:

“Education has a real opportunity to pivot in this moment. There is a chance to claim the ground from which we can transform the world.”

And our very own board member Simon Hart in his recent blog post writes:

“We have been presented with a crack in our social and educational systems in which we might plant a new seed. Moments of crisis can lead to rapid institutional transformation —otherwise impossible in normal times.”

It is our sincere hope that you feel empowered to take the lead (or at least an active role) in shaping what will come next in your communities.  If you haven’t already, read Simon and David’s thoughtful words, and take them as a call to action.  YOU CANdo this, YOU CAN seize this opportunity, and ISEEN wants to help. Keep asking for what you need, keep joining us for Zooms where we brainstorm and share (challenges and successes).

To that end, we are putting out a call for proposals for a Virtual Model Programs & Practices (MPP) so ISEEN folks can learn from member schools about diverse creative programmatic responses in the “time of Covid”.  Don’t be scared, we’re thinking 5-10 minute presentations, Q&A, and sharing of resources.  Click here to let us know what you’d like to share (by May 3rd). We’ll do a virtual MPP Session the week of May 11th.

Next week, we are hosting two Brainstorming Zooms to create ideas and, eventually shareable documents/materials, dedicated to:

  1. Fall Orientation Programs
  2. Creating a self-guided experiential education resource for students. (see below for details)
